Jordan Michael Exey


Jordan Michael Exey, age 22, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at his residence.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the American Lutheran Church in Castlewood, SD.  Pastor Jesse Hurkes will officiate.  Music will be provided by Roxanne Bass.  


Burial will be at the Castlewood Cemetery in Castlewood.  Honorary pallbearers will be all of Jordan’s nieces and nephews.  Active pallbearers will be Casey Scott, Justin Lewandowski, Nathan Taylor, Steve Sears, Murray Linnevold and Craig Ehlers. 



Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Thursday.  

Jordan was born on December 5, 1990, at LaCrosse, WI, to Michael and Madonna (Smith) Exey.  He graduated from Castlewood High School in 2009.  Following graduation, Jordan worked at Dakota Finishing and was currently working at Liberty Drywall. 


He enjoyed riding motorcycle, air brush painting, mudding, fishing and stock car racing.  Jordan enjoyed life and loved spending time with his daughter and friends. 


Jordan is survived by his daughter, Jayla Mae Exey, of Watertown; his father, Michael Exey, of Decorah, IA; his mother, Madonna (Daryl) DeKam, of Castlewood, SD; three brothers: Jonas (Shaina) Exey of Watertown, SD, Jerrid Exey and his friend, Jalisa, of Watertown, SD, and Jacob Exey of Decorah, IA; one step-brother, Eric (Jen) DeKam, of Madison, SD; four sisters: Khrista (Murray) Linnevold of Madison, WI, Kerry Haugenoe and her fiancé, Craig Ehlers, of Wheaton, MN, Mindy Haugenoe and her husband, Nathan Beeson, of Fargo, ND, and Melissa (Steve) Sears of Watertown, SD; one half-sister, Angela Exey, of Decorah, IA;  his maternal grandparents, Duane (Connie) Leuenberger, of Decorah, IA; his maternal grandfather, Jack Handgarnter, of Charles City, IA; his maternal great-grandfather, Carlton Jones, of Waucon, IA; and his friend, Heidi Norgaard, of Watertown, SD.  


He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dean (Lillian) Smith, and his paternal grandparents, Ambrose (Mae) Exey.
