Frederick Joseph Jakobek A Funeral Mass for Frederick Joseph Jakobek, age 59, of Watertown, SD will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the Holy Name Catholic Church, Watertown, SD. Fr. John Lantsberger will officiate. Fred passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 at his residence.

Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Pallbearers will be: Patrick Archer, Marvin Dulek, Bill Keller, Bob Kluver, Tom Ross, and Bill Wickert. Music for the service will be provided by Aurelia Palm, organist and Teresa Gildersleeve, soloist.

Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Scripture Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. and Thursday prior to services at the church.

Fred was born on June 2, 1948 at Milwaukee, WI to Frederick, Sr. and Jeanette (Landowski) Jakobek. He graduated from Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, WI and was a graduate of Concordia University in Mequon, WI. Following graduation, he lived in Milwaukee and worked in purchasing for various manufacturing companies as well as living at home and taking care of his mother.

On October 19, 1985, Fred married Jennifer Dulek at Milwaukee, WI. They lived in Delafield, WI until moving to Port Washington, WI where Fred worked for Trak International, which later became Omniquip, until he became ill. He later owned Hawthorne Hills Restaurant before accepting a position at Angus Palm Industries in Watertown, SD.

He was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church and a former member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary where he served as captain. He was also a member of the Port Washington Lion’s Club, Saint Vincent DePaul Society and St. Peter’s Alcantara Parish where he served on the Parish Council, was a Lay Minister and also belonged to the Men’s Club. Fred was an avid reader. He loved boating and at one time owned his own charter company. He also loved camping carpentry, trap shooting and cooking.

Fred is survived by his wife, Jennifer, and his four children: Gregory, Nathan, Rebecca and Veronica, all of Watertown, SD and one brother, Gerard Jakobek, of Port Washington, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
