 Graveside services for Dellis Truman Hjermstad, age 72, of Watertown, SD will be on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Rev. Stephen Lauricella will officiate. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Sunday from 1-3 p.m. Dellis passed away on July 9, 2007 at his residence.
Dellis was born on April 28, 1935 at Bradley, SD to Augusthenius and Mena (Bruflat) Hjermstad. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He attended school at Bradley, SD and graduated from Watertown High School, Watertown, SD, having been a member of the 1953 Watertown High School State basketball championship team. He attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD. He worked as an engineer on the M. and St. L. Railroad. Dellis’ family remembers him as one of the most generous people. He was always helpful to everyone. Being an avid hunter and baseball pitcher gave him great joy. He is survived by two sisters, Marcy Stegmann of Tuxedo Park, NY and Arlene Grimes of Mesa, AZ; five nephews and four nieces. Dellis was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Sam. |
