Funeral services for Deloris R. Birchall, age 86, of Watertown, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2007 in the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Watertown, SD. Rev. Roger Spahr will officiate. Music will be provided by Marcia Kurtenbach, pianist and Rhonda Mund, soloist. Deloris passed away on September 23, 2007 at a hospital in Watertown. She was the widow of Stanley “Tommy” Birchall. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Deloris’ former students and neighbors. Active pallbearers will be: Travis Hinton, Trenton Hinton, Steven Birchall, Jesse Huebsch, Kevin Behnke, and Burton Tesch. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and prior to the services at the church on Thursday. The family is requested to meet at the church on Thursday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. Deloris was born on September 17, 1921 to Ray Bishop and Anna Inez (Rhonish) Stevens at Scotland, SD. The family moved to Marshall Co., SD in 1923. They resided at Lake City, SD and moved to Amherst, SD in 1929. Deloris attended school for two years at Lake City and graduated from Amherst High School. She attended Northern State Teachers College at Aberdeen, SD and taught schools in Hamlin and Codington Counties, SD. She worked for a short time at Boeing Aircraft in the state of Washington. Deloris married Stanley “Tommy” Birchall on December 28, 1945 at Webster, SD. The couple resided on a farm near Thomas, SD for 47 years. Deloris was baptized in the Methodist faith and held offices in church and community organizations. She was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown, SD. Deloris is survived by one son, Randy and his wife, Linda Birchall, of Pierre, SD; two daughters: Becky and her husband, Bob Hinton, of Sioux Falls, SD, and Jannelle and her husband, Keith Olson, of Watertown, SD; seven grandchildren: Michelle Huebsch, Andrea Huebsch, Steven Birchall, Travis Hinton, Trenton Hinton, Megan Olson, and Stephanie Olson; and three great-grandchildren: Logan Huebsch, Bryce Huebsch, and Braydon Birchall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy, her parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
