Funeral Mass for Callist J. Robinson, age 78, of Watertown, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 28, 2007 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Watertown. Fr. James Bream will officiate. Music will be provided by the Immaculate Conception Church choir. Callist passed away on September 24, 2007 at a hospital in Watertown.
Burial, with military graveside rites provided by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the retired Postal Employees. Active pallbearers will be: Scott Koenig, Matt Robinson, Kyle Robinson, Louis Canfield, Bill Shepherd, and Mark Moorehouse. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Scripture Wake service at 5. Visitation will continue, prior to services at the church on Friday. The family is requested to be at the church on Friday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. Callist was born on April 11, 1929 at Frankfort, SD to Callist Paul and Leona (Rueschenberg) Robinson. He attended and graduated from Frankfort High School on May 27, 1947. Following graduation, he entered the U.S. Army, and served during the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge on September 24, 1951. Callist married Donna Stanislaus on November 1, 1952 at Watertown, SD. He started working at Watertown Sash & Door Woodworking and then worked 30 years for the U.S. Post Office, retiring on January 18, 1985. Callist and his wife, Donna, were co-owners of the Watertown Swap-N-Shop from 1961 to 1972, and he later worked part time at the Knit Knook in Watertown. Callist was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown, SD, the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and the National American Retired Federal Employees. His favorite hobbies and pastimes were: woodworking, bowling, camping, fishing, hunting, and playing cards. Callist is survived by two sons: Brian and his wife, Virginia Robinson, of Watertown, SD, Jeff and his wife, Roxy Robinson, of Watertown, SD; one daughter, Jaylene K. and her husband, Jim Butler, of Maple Grove, MN; two sisters: Marlys and her husband, Merle Schnackenberg, of Portland, OR, and Jerilyn and her husband, Don Graham, of Redlands, CA; three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents; two brothers, and one grandson. |
