Max Brandsrud Funeral services for Max E. Brandsrud, age 87, of Watertown, SD will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007 in the St. Martinís Lutheran Church, Watertown. Rev. Dennis Hayes will officiate. Max passed away on September 26, 2007; at a care center in Watertown.

Burial, with military graveside rites provided by Frank H. Adams Post #750 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Watertown, will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Watertown Snowmobile Club. Active pallbearers will be: Larry Brandsrud, Gary Brandsrud, Gary Steinmetz, Dave Doyan, and Gary McFarland. Music will be provided by Karen Livingston, organist, and Matthew and Amy Weseloh, vocalists.

Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday preceding services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Saturday by 1:30 p.m. for a prayer service.

Max was born on January 24, 1920 to Edwin and Laura (Goodroad) Brandsrud at Estelline, SD. He attended school at Foley, SD. He worked for the Coca-Cola Company before entering the United States Air Force in 1944. After being discharged from service in 1946, he worked for Bill Broderman in trucking and then for Hantens Brake shop.

Max married Murna Patterson on August 15, 1948 in Clear Lake, SD. The couple lived in Watertown, SD all of their married life. After marriage, Max worked for Metz Baking Company for over 30 years; until retiring in 1982.

Max was a member of the St. Martinís Lutheran Church, a lifetime member of the American Legion and V.F.W., and an honorary member of the Watertown Snowmobile Club. He was avid about snowmobiling, loved to fish, hunt, and play pinochle at the Senior Citizen Clubs where he was a member.

Max is survived by his wife, Murna, one son, James and his wife, Bonnie Brandsrud of Davis, SD; three daughters: Patricia Anderson of Whittier, CA, Crystal and her husband, Harlowe Nelson, of Stockholm, SD, and Jackie and her husband, Bill Rieffenberger, of Watertown, SD; sixteen grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, and one sister.
