Funeral services for Maurice A. Keller, age 89, of Watertown, SD will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2007 in the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Watertown, SD. Rev. Roger Spahr will officiate. Maurice passed away on December 4, 2007 at his residence in Watertown, SD.
Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be: Cornerstone XYZ’s, Rose Beck, Stephanie Dahle, Jeanie Strohfus, Hospice Nurses, Dr. Catherine Leadabrand, Don & Cheri Lalim, Lee Ann Currey, and friends at Sunchase. Active pallbearers will be Maurice’s grandchildren: Kerry Hintz, Kim Ness, Kyle Baukol, Mike Siegfried, Kris Reck, Beau Cooper, Amy Batzold, Kelly Cooper, Ali Glaus, and Katie Keller. Music will be provided Nathan Hunter, soloist. Visitation will be prior to the services at the church on Friday. The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD. Maurice was born on September 5, 1918 at Twin Brooks, SD to John L. and Emma (Siegert) Keller. He graduated from Watertown High School, Class of 1936, and went to work at Swift and Company in Watertown. He then attended and graduated from technical school in Fargo, ND. Maurice married Cecelia Lykken on October 28, 1938 at Devils Lake, ND. They made their home in Watertown, SD. The couple moved to Portland, OR during WWII where Maurice worked in the shipyards and for Internal Revenue Service. They later moved back to Watertown where Maurice worked as an accountant. The couple then moved to Minneapolis, MN where he worked as an electrical machinist. He later worked for Love Lines as a counselor as well as their bookkeeper. In 1999, they moved back to Watertown to be near family. Cecelia passed away in 2000. Maurice moved to Sunchase in 2004. Maurice was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, and XYZ’s. He also taught Sunday School. He enjoyed his grandchildren, all sports, boating, fishing, and swimming. Maurice also enjoyed his love for the Lord and sharing it with others. He is survived by one son, Charles and his wife, Vicki Keller, of Cornell, WI; three daughters: Janice Baukol of Benson, MN, Joan Siegfried and her husband, Merlyn, and Cheryl Cooper and her husband, Doug, all of Watertown, SD; special friend, Enid Senkbeil; ten grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Maurice was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four grandchildren, one sister, Rosetta Abley, and one son-in-law, Keith Baukol. |
