Funeral services for Lois C. (Mrs. Lyle) Singrey, age 85, of Hazel, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Watertown, SD. Rae Speiser will officiate. Music will be provided by Brian Ries and Nona Clifford with congregational singing. Lois passed away on Friday, December 7, 2007 at a hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will be in the Hazel Cemetery, rural Hazel, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Lois’ granddaughters and great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Lois’ grandsons and grandsons-in-law: Luke Singrey, Lance Singrey, Van Singrey, Nathan Singrey, Naas Bibbey, Tyler Tesch and Rob Wegehaupt. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 10:00 a.m. for a family prayer service. Lois was born on January 30, 1922 at Bancroft, SD to Ross and Matilda (Opsal) Fordyce. She attended rural school until attending school in Hazel where she graduated in 1939. Following high school, Lois worked at banks in Hazel, Hayti and Watertown. On February 16, 1947 Lois married Lyle Singrey at Hazel, SD. She farmed with her husband and was the clerk at the Hazel Post Office for many years until retiring in 1988. She was a member of Hazel United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and was active in U.M.W. (United Methodist Women). She also belonged to the Gideon International Auxiliary. Lois enjoyed visiting, gardening, playing Pinochle and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lois is survived by her husband, Lyle, of Hazel, SD; three sons: Lynn and his wife, Doreen Singrey, of Hazel, SD; Kevin and his wife, Sharon Singrey, of Aberdeen, SD; and Marvin and his wife, Christine Singrey, of Hazel, SD; one brother, Donnie, and his wife, Leona Fordyce, of Yakima, WA; one sister, Viola Brekke, of Watertown, SD; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Elmer; and one sister, Clarice.
