Elinor Flury, age 87, of Watertown, SD passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at a care center in Watertown. She was the widow of Landon Flury. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery, rural Henry, SD on Monday, December 24, 2007. A memorial service will be planned for a future date. Memorials may be directed to the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 1350 11th St. NE, Watertown, SD, 57201; the Watertown Senior Citizens Center, 301 E. Kemp Ave., Watertown, SD, 57201; or to a charity of choice. Born Treva Elinor Hansen on June 6, 1920, in Henry, SD, she was the daughter of Henry A. and Mabel (McKay) Hansen. She attended school at North Graceland and graduated from Henry High School, Henry, SD in 1938. She attended the Lake College of Commerce in Waukegan, IL. Elinor worked at the Midland Café and the Midland National Life Insurance Company prior to her marriage. On October 15, 1941, Elinor married Landon Flury, son of John Walter and Mae (Nichols) Flury at the home of her parents in Henry, SD. They started their farming career on the Albert Olson farm. In the fall of 1943, they moved to the Hansen farm, known as Ash Grove Farm, in Graceland Township, and became the third generation of the same family to own and farm this land; they lived there for 50 years. The Hansen farm was recognized as a Century Farm at the 1992 South Dakota State Fair in Huron. In 1993, Landon and Elinor moved to Watertown, SD. Elinor was a member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens in Watertown, SD. She and her husband participated in square dancing with several groups in Henry and Watertown. She also enjoyed music and played the piano. For several years, she worked part-time in the office of South Dakota Livestock Sales Co. of Watertown. Elinor is survived by her brother-in-law, Elden and his wife, Elaine Flury, of Watertown, SD; three nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Landon; her parents; one brother, Willis Hansen; and one sister, Leona Hanson.
