Matthew H. Seppanen Funeral services for Matthew Hjalmar Seppanen, age 48, of Lake Norden, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2008 in the First Apostolic Lutheran Church, Lake Norden, SD. Rev. Reino Maunu and Ray Kulla will officiate. Music will be provided by Ruthie Seppanen, organist, with congregational singing. Matthew passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at his residence.

Burial will be in the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Norden, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew’s brothers and sisters-in-law, sisters and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Matthew’s nephews: Art Kuusisto, Eric Rhoades, Darin Seppanen, Brad Coponen, Jorden West, Ben Kuusisto, Ryan Seppanen and Jared Coponen.

Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Hayti, SD on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and Monday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Monday by 10:00 a.m. to attend the services.

Matthew was born on November 23, 1959 at Watertown, SD to Willard and Toini (Kandoll) Seppanen. He attended Hamlin Schools and LATI in Watertown. Matthew was employed by Hurkes Implement and worked on the family farm most of his life.

He was a member of the First Apostolic Lutheran Church. Matthew enjoyed family time especially reading to his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his mother, Toini Seppanen, of Lake Norden, SD; ten siblings: Nina and her husband, Peter Kuusisto, of New Ipswich, NH, Norma and her husband, Bryan Tumberg, of New York Mills, MN, Nancy and her husband, Kevin Somero, of New Ipswich, NH, John and his wife, Jana Seppanen, of Lake Norden, SD, Nadine and her husband, Daniel Rhoades, of Centerville, WA, James and his wife, Karina Seppanen, of Hayti, SD, Neva and her husband, Edward Emery, of Rindge, NH, Mark and his wife, Sara Seppanen, of Lake Norden, SD; Nylene and her husband, Paul Coponen, of Chassell, MI, and Naomi and her husband, William West, of Hayti, SD.

Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Willard.
