Funeral Services for Roger D. Meseberg, age 82, of Watertown, SD will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2008 in St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Watertown, SD. Rev. Keith Petersen will officiate. Music will be provided by Bev Ewy as organist and Donna Redlin as soloist. Roger passed away on Friday, February 15, 2008 at a care center in Watertown. Burial, with military graveside rites by Frank H. Adams Post #750 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Watertown, will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will all of Roger’s friends and his grandchildren: Richard Herr, Robert Herr, Joseph Herr, Leah Mohr, and Heather Rennerfeldt. Active pallbearers will be: Rod Cotten, Terry Borns, Gene Borns, Fred Peshman, Steve Wishard, and Marlan Redlin. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and Monday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Monday by 1:30 p.m. for a prayer service. Roger was born on December 23, 1925 at Watertown, SD to Eli and Mabel (Borns) Meseberg. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. He attended both grade school and high school in Watertown. Roger was a WWII veteran, serving with the U.S. Army Company F, the 130th infantry Regiment Division in the Philippines. On July 10, 1949, Roger married Phyllis Hallauer in St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Watertown. The couple lived most of their married life in Watertown. Roger worked for Petroleum Carriers, Terrace Park Dairy, and the Municipal Golf Course until 1988 when he retired. He is a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, a past member of the Golden “K” Club, and a life time member of VFW Post 750. He enjoyed working in the yard, playing cards, and going on tours. Roger especially enjoyed visiting with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of Watertown, SD; one daughter Pat and her husband, Rick Herr, of Watertown, SD; three sisters: Twyla Mae and her husband, Rich Adney, of Pierre, SD, Donna Jean Glodrey of Jamestown, ND, and Joy and her husband, Willard Bretsch, of Brookings, SD; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Roger was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Barbara and her husband, Walter Rennerfeldt.
