Funeral services for Clifford August Lambert, age 84, of Watertown, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2008 in the St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Watertown. Rev. Dennis Hayes will officiate. Music will be provided by Karen Livingston, organist and Brian Schwanz, soloist. Clifford passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2008 at the hospital in Watertown. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Clifford’s former fellow employees of the Watertown Police Department. Active pallbearers will be Terry Mack, Ronald Mack, Todd Lambert, Tracy Lambert, Troy Lambert, Tim Brenden and Randy Marsh. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Saturday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. Clifford was born on July 6, 1923 at Raymond, SD to Martin A. and Wilhemina (Mehlberg) Lambert. He farmed with his father until the age of 21. At that time, he moved to Watertown where he was a mechanic at Bichler Motor. Clifford married Pearl Fish on September 2, 1944 at Henry, SD. He operated the Texaco station on Highway 81 and Kemp Avenue and later went to work at Gilbert’s Polygon for 12 years. Clifford was then employed by the Watertown Police Department, in maintenance, and retired from that position in 1988. He was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church. Clifford enjoyed working with wood and loved watching birds. He was a great husband, dad and grandfather. Clifford is survived by his wife, Pearl, and one son, Roland, and his wife, Carol Lambert, all of Watertown, SD; three grandsons: Todd and Troy Lambert of Watertown, SD and Tracy Lambert of Sioux Falls, SD; one brother, Melvin, and his wife, Inez Lambert, of Lake Havasu, AZ; four sisters: Mavis Schaaf, Delane Schaaf and Lavonne Marsh all of Sioux Falls, SD and Genevieve and her husband, Ellsworth Brenden, of Watertown, SD. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Marvin; and one sister, Evelyn.
