 Funeral services for Marlys M. (Mrs. Devon) Reeve, age 76, of Watertown, SD will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2008 in the St. Martin’s Lutheran Church, Watertown. Rev. Dennis Hayes will officiate. Music will be provided by Karen Livingston as organist along with the Senior and Children’s Choirs. Marlys passed away on Monday, March 31, 2008 at the hospital in Watertown.
Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Marlys’ grandchildren: Josh Sorbel, Becky Sorbel, Dallas J. Reeve, Holly Reeve, Cory Reeve, Jenny Reeve, Jeff Reeve and great granddaughter, Jasmine Reeve. Active pallbearers will be: Gary Steinmetz, Dale Tesch, Boyd Tesch, Matt Roberts, Larry Singrey, and Dale Kludt. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 1:30 p.m. for a prayer service. Marlys was born on June 12, 1931 at Lake Kampeska to Charles and Lydia (Miller) Currey. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Martin’s Lutheran Church. On July 6, 1949, Marlys married Devon Reeve at Webster, SD. The couple operated Medicine Lake Resort for 30 summers. She was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church Choir for 45 years. Marlys also worked and volunteered at St. Martin’s Lutheran School for 40 years. Marlys is survived by her husband, Devon, of 58 years, of Watertown, SD; one daughter, Muriel, and her husband, Jerry Sorbel, of Omaha, NE; two sons: Dallas Reeve of Florence, SD and Dana and his wife, Leisa Reeve, of Sioux Falls, SD; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Marvin “Hap”, and his wife, Darlene Currey, of Florence, SD; three sisters: Norma and her husband, George Morris, of Watertown, SD; Arlene Sharp of Henry, SD and Dolores Meseberg of Watertown, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. |
