Memorial services for Betty E. (Mrs. Tom) Minor, age 82, of Watertown, SD will be on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Watertown, SD. Rev. Steven Bailey will officiate. Music will be provided by Bruce Reinhardt, pianist, and Kurt Engel, soloist. Betty passed away on May 29, 2008 at a hospital in Watertown, SD. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Pallbearers will be Betty’s grandchildren: Donald Bjerklie, Mark Bjerklie, Laurie Bjerklie, Todd Bjerklie, Ann Hatton, and Meghan Minor. The family is requested to meet at the church on Monday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD is in charge of the arrangements. Betty was born on December 1, 1925 at Greenwood, WI to Jacob and Caroline (Reubling) Brumbaugh. She attended school in Greenwood. She then moved to Watertown, SD to live with her sister. Betty married Tom Minor on August 26, 1944 in Watertown, SD. Together they raised three children. Betty also worked at Fourth St. Pharmacy and every Tuesday at Lokens Sales Pavilion. Betty was active in the church Guild. She was a former member of Prairie Queen Club which was a service and social club made up of women from the neighborhood farms. She loved gardening and canned many quarts of vegetables. Betty was an avid Twins baseball fan up until a few days before she became ill. She enjoyed reading, shopping, and fashion. Betty was an extremely hard working, industrious individual with an assertive personality who enjoyed helping others. She is survived by her husband, Tom, of Watertown, SD; one son, Steven, and his wife, Elma Minor, of Staples, TX; two daughters: Frances Schloe of Humble, TX and Carol and her husband, Don Bjerklie, of Fergus Falls, MN; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Brumbaugh, of Marshfield, WI; and one sister-in-law, Polly Loken, of Watertown, SD. Betty was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Mary; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
