Funeral Mass for John Albert Endres, Jr., age 71, of Watertown, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 in the Immaculate Conception Church, Watertown, SD. Fr. James Bream will officiate. Music will be provided by the Immaculate Conception Church Choir with Jim Thomas as soloist. John passed away, after a long illness, on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at his residence. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Active pallbearers will be: John’s grandsons: Colin Strasburg, Taylor Strasburg and Chase Endres and his nephews: Leon Spartz, Richard Boettcher, Greg Gibson and LeAllen Endres. Honorary pallbearers will be the remainder of John’s grandchildren: Grant Strasburg, Abby Endres, Nicole Herron, Courtney Herron, Alexis Herron, Brett Francis and Ryan Francis. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. with a Scripture Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday preceding services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 10:00 a.m. to attend the service. John was born on May 26, 1937 in Watertown, SD to John and Laurine (Kranz) Endres. He attended Immaculate Conception Elementary School and graduated from Watertown High School in 1955. He married Susan Hjermstad on May 6, 1960. Unto this union four children were born. He farmed on the farm he was born and raised on until 1965, when he then moved his family to Miller, SD. He opened Miller Furniture, and ran this successful business for twenty years. While in Miller, he was active in various organizations, including Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, and the Miller Country Club. He was also a member on the Board of Directors for Hand County Development. In 1987, John sold his business and moved back to Watertown, SD. He worked with his brother and nephews at Zimmel’s Furniture for several years. On August 5, 1989, he married Jeanette “Jeanie” B. Marvel. John enjoyed fishing and working in the outdoors as he prided himself on keeping an immaculate yard. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. John also loved being a spectator of all sports. John is survived by his wife, Jeanie, of Watertown, SD; his four children: Lori and her husband, Steve Strasburg, of Sioux Falls, SD; Scott and his wife, Rita Endres, of Maple Grove, MN; Shari and her husband, Craig Herron, of Queen Creek, AZ; and Kim and her husband, Bill Francis, of Flower Mound, TX; two step-daughters: Kim Winter of Tucson, AZ and Tamara Menshausen, of Wantage, NJ; ten grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; three sisters: Jeanette Spartz of Kranzburg, SD; Delphine and her husband, Cliff Hanten, of Watertown, SD; and Delores Gibson of Goodwin, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Scott,My deepest condolences to you, and your family. I remember your dad, he was a great guy, and will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
