Richard "Dick" E. Bach

Richard Funeral services for Richard “Dick” E. Bach, age 71, of Watertown, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 in the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Watertown. Rev. Roger Spahr will officiate. Music will be provided by Marcia Kurtenbach, organist, and Lynn Sharp, soloist. Dick passed away on Friday, June 13, 2008 at the hospital in Watertown.

Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Dick’s grandchildren: Shane Schuchard, Shannon Schuchard, Mindy Bach, Jake Bach, Justin “Louie” Bach, Taylor Bach, Tyra Bach, Seth Bach, Sage Bach; his great-grandchildren: Shaylee Schuchard, Sloan York, Shaelyn York, and all of his many friends. Active pallbearers will be: Brian “Bud” Bach, Kevin Bach, Brad Bach, Don Hanes, Bill Hanes, and Travis Gusso.

Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Tuesday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.

Dick was born on July 29, 1936 in Watertown, SD to Russell and Grace (Kellogg) Bach. He attended Watertown High School and graduated in 1956. Following graduation, he started driving trucks and purchased Arrow Truck Line in 1962; which he co-owned with his brother, Harlan, and his brother-in-law, Ray Henrichs.

On July 19, 1961 Dick married Mabel Henrichs at Watertown, SD. After her death, he married Maryl (Fortin) Stadheim on November 3, 2001 at Watertown.

He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. Dick enjoyed fishing, playing cards, shooting gophers, going to his grandchildren’s activities, traveling, watching “The Price Is Right”, and having coffee with his buddies to whom he was affectionately known as “Butch”.

Dick is survived by his wife, Maryl, of Watertown, SD; two sons: Todd and his wife, Anita Bach, and Tim and his wife, Sheila Bach, all of Florence, SD; one daughter, Cheryl, and her husband, Chuck Schuchard, of Watertown, SD; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; six step-children: Jeff and his wife, Sandy Stadheim, of Watertown, SD; Cindy and her husband, Dan Hurt, of Rosemond, CA; Mike Stadheim; Kathy and her husband, Greg Hoftiezer; Scott Stadheim and Mark Stadheim, all of Watertown, SD; 14 step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; three brothers: Harlan and his wife, Patricia Bach, and Lowell and his wife, Marilyn Bach, all of Watertown, SD; and Dean Bach of Runnels, IA; and one sister, Carol, and her husband, Nick Gusso, of Sioux Falls, SD.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel; one daughter, Melissa; and his parents.
