Funeral services for Frederic T. Bailey, age 67, of Watertown, SD will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in the Grace Lutheran Church, Watertown, SD. Rev. Stephen Lauricella and Minister Marion Grimes will officiate. Music will be provided by Mary Bloom, pianist, Marsha Gisselbeck, flutist, and Amber Lutz, soloist. Fred passed away on June 18, 2008 at a hospital in Des Moines, IA. Burial, with military graveside rites provided by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred’s grandchildren: John, Melanie, and Marte Bailey, Marque Gibson, Mitchelle Bailey, Mersadez Bailey, Torrie Bailey, Taylee Bailey, Shelby Bailey, and Ethan and Emma Wientjes. Active pallbearers will be: Troy Reichling, Joel Reichling, Aaron Larsen, Jesse Larsen, Sheldon Olson, and Doug Border. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Monday from 4-7 p.m. and Tuesday preceding services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Tuesday by 1:30 p.m. for a prayer service. Fred was born on February 12, 1941 at Evanston, IL to Harry and Helen (Bye) Bailey. Following graduation, Fred served in the U.S. Army from March 1960 until his honorable discharge in March of 1965. Fred married Valda Hester. He later married Darlene Folkestad on September 26, 1970 at Bradley, SD. Fred worked as an auto mechanic and later as a custodian. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Fred is survived by his wife, Darlene of Watertown, SD; five sons: Kenneth and his wife, Claire Bailey, of Gatesville, TX, Mark and his wife, Cindy Bailey, of Bradley, SD, David Bailey and Daryl and his wife, Dawn Bailey, all of Temple, TX, Sgt. Paul and his wife, Sophia Bailey, of Ft. Hood, TX; one daughter, Diane and her husband, Erick Wientjes, of Watertown, SD; eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Bailey, of Sioux Falls, SD; five sisters: Carol and her husband, Jerry Connell, of Marble Falls, TX, Shirley and her husband, Mardell Olson, of Clarkfield, MN, Janet and her husband, Bob Hora, of Rapid City, SD; Gloria and her husband, Jerry Reichling, of Kingsland, TX, and Karen Larsen of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan; his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
