Funeral services for Bernice L. Stark, age 92, of Watertown, SD will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2008 in Grace Lutheran Church, Watertown, SD. Pastor Stephen Lauricella will officiate. Music will be provided by Marsha Jelsma, organist, and Judy Everson, soloist. Bernice passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at a care center in Watertown, SD. She was the widow of Merle Stark.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Estelline, SD. Pallbearers will be: Cody Schulz, Dr. Carter Silvernail, Scott Hovland, Greg Damme, Keith Olson, and Gary Brandsrud. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and Thursday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. Bernice was born on April 4, 1916 at rural Arlington, SD to Hubert and Hilda (Dahl) Noirot. She attended the Arlington schools. She married Merle Stark on June 25, 1935 at Arlington, SD. The couple moved to California in November of 1936 where Bernice worked for the Sprouse Rietz Company. They returned to the Lake Poinsett area in 1940 and farmed. The couple then moved to Watertown, SD in 1954. Bernice became one of the first licensed reflexologists in South Dakota. She continued practicing reflexology for nearly fifty years. Bernice was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the church circles. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, baking, and spending time with all her family. The couple really enjoyed spending time at their lake cottage. She is survived by one son, Kevin and his wife, Sandy Stark, of Perris, CA; one daughter, Carol and her husband, Ron Bergan of Watertown, SD; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Bernice was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. |
