Funeral services for Roxanne L. Riter, age 52, of Hayti, SD will be at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 in the Hayti Lutheran Church, Hayti, SD. Rev. Randy Eisenbeisz will officiate. Music will be provided by Deanna Olsen, organist and Lisa Pedersen, soloist. Roxanne passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at a hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Hayti, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Roxanne’s grandchildren and pets. Active pallbearers will be: Keith Palo, Seth Fryer, Pete Carrizales, Jeremy Espland, Jarid Espland and Ray Johnson. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Hayti, on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Tuesday by 1:00 p.m. for a prayer service. Roxanne was born on October 31, 1955 in St. Paul, MN to Jerry and Delores (Withrow) Kastein. She was baptized at Hayti Lutheran Church and graduated from Hamlin High School in 1973. She attended school for nurse’s training at Lake Area Vo-Tech School in Watertown. On July 2, 1977, Roxanne married Eugene Riter in Lake Norden, SD. She worked at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown, Lake Norden Care Center as a nurse’s aid, and later stayed at home as a homemaker. Roxanne truly enjoyed her family; especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook for her family, dance, and loved life. She was excited about being the owner of her own house and car. Roxanne always put everyone else first and then would worry about herself. Roxanne is survived by her husband, Eugene; her children: Darian and his wife, Misty Riter, and Amy Riter, all of Watertown, SD; and Travis and his wife, Monica Riter, of Hayti, SD; her mother, Delores Kastein, of Hayti, SD; three sisters: Pam Fryer of Hayti, SD; Donna and her husband, David Anderson, of Madison, SD; and Connie and her husband, Terry Swanz, of Arlington, SD; five grandchildren: Dawson, Carson, Jasmine, Teagan, and Katrina; and her special dog, Fluffy. She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.
