Voyle G. Peterson

Funeral services for Voyle G. Peterson, age 84, of New Hope, MN, formerly Webster, SD, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, 2008, in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD. Pastor Jim Biswell will officiate. Music will be provided by Pastor Jim and Peggy Biswell. Voyle passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at Northridge Care Center in New Hope, MN.

Burial will be in the Collins Cemetery, Willow Lake, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be Marvid Peterson, Hiram Peterson Henrietta Anderson, Sara Peterson, and Naomi Peterson. Active pallbearers will be: Orin Althoff, Paul Peterson, Kennard Peterson, Lee Anderson, Almond Peterson, and Rick Hill.

Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m., prior to the services. The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Saturday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.

Voyle G. Peterson was born on June 7, 1924, in Highland Township, Day County, SD, to Henry C. and Clara (Amundson) Peterson. He attended school in Wallace, SD.

On June 20, 1947, Voyle married Grace B. Hill in Willow Lake, SD. They had two children, Virgil and Pearl Jean. Voyle was employed by NorthWestern Public Service for forty-one years. He started as a lineman and at the time of his retirement was a meter reader for the company. Grace passed away in 2002.

Voyle was a member of Brooklyn Center, MN Church of the Nazarene and was very active in his church. He was involved in the Gideon ministry on the local and state level and was also a member of the Jaycee’s.

Voyle is survived by one son, Rev. Virgil, and his wife, Mary Peterson, of North Mankato, MN; one daughter, Pearl Jean Peterson, of New Hope, MN; two granddaughters, Sara and Naomi Peterson; four brothers: Marvid Peterson and Almond and his wife, Marlys Peterson, all of Webster, SD; Hiram Peterson of Braham, MN; and Kennard and his wife, Marie Peterson, of Tacoma, WA; and one sister, Henrietta Anderson, of Henderson, NV.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; an infant son; his parents; four brothers: Clinton, Burnell, Orville, and Curtis; and three sisters: Aldred, Eunice, and Doreen.
