Funeral services for Wayne A. Borgen, age 39, of Watertown, SD, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2009, in the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Watertown, SD. Rev. Roger Spahr will officiate. Music will be provided by Sandy Dingsor, organist, and Michael Borgen, soloist. Wayne passed away on February 24, 2009, at a hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will be in the spring at Veblen Cemetery, Veblen, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be ATCO residents and staff. Active pallbearers will be: Rick Rust, Thad St. John, Craig Meidinger, and Derek Nelson. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and Monday in the church prior to the services. The family is requested to meet at the church on Monday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. Wayne was born on December 17, 1969, in Sisseton, SD, to Arthur H. and Karen (Farley) Borgen. He was baptized, confirmed, and was a member at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Veblen. He attended school in Britton, Sisseton, and Veblen. Following school, he moved to Watertown, SD, where he lived in several ATCO homes. Wayne later moved to his own apartment and roomed with Rick Rust. Wayne worked at Dakota Poultry; Comfort Inn, where he received the Governor’s Award for excellent service; Pizza Ranch; and cleaned at several other businesses in Watertown. He previously worked at Canyon Ranch Trailrides. Wayne was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown. He was a former Boy Scout and was in Special Olympics for bowling and basketball. Wayne was in a men’s bowling league, was active in Relay for Life, enjoyed Arrow sports, the NFL, the Twins, and karaoke. He is survived by his mother, Karen Borgen, of Veblen, SD; two brothers, Michael Borgen of Sisseton, SD, and Russel and his wife, Wendy Borgen, of Olivehurst, CA; two sisters, Cathy Moshier of Veblen, SD, and her companion, Bruce Howell, and Diane and her husband, Dave Kinney, of Volga, SD; and several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
