Funeral services for E. Willard Isaacson, age 94, of Lake Norden, SD, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009, in the Apostolic Lutheran Church, Watertown, SD. Rev. Reino Maunu and Conrad Hilman will officiate. Music will be provided by Janet Maunu, organist, and Rev. Reino and Janet Maunu, vocalists. Willard passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2009, at the hospital in Watertown, SD. Burial, with military rites provided by Cook-Olsen Post #217 of the American Legion, Hayti, SD, will be in the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Norden, SD. Pallbearers will be Willard’s grandsons: Steve Olson, David Olson, Jonathan Olson, Thomas Olson, Marcus Isaacson, Nels Isaacson, Arne Isaacson, and Reid Isaacson. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD, on Monday from 4-7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue in the church on Tuesday prior to the services. The family is requested to meet at the church on Tuesday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service. Willard was born on September 3, 1914, at Franklin, MN, to Frank and Hulda (Bay) Isaacson. He attended schools in Minnesota. He then entered the U.S. Army. He married Minnie Seppanen on June 25, 1944, at Berkley, CA. Willard was honorably discharged from the Army and the couple began farming in the Hayti, SD, area. The couple later moved to the current Isaacson farm near Lake Norden. Willard was a pastor in the Apostolic Lutheran Church for over fifty years and spent many years as the sexton of the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in Lake Norden. He was a member of Apostolic Lutheran Church. Willard enjoyed being outside taking care of his yard and reading, especially the Bible and various Christian readings. He also enjoyed woodworking and visiting with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Minnie Isaacson, of Lake Norden, SD; two sons: LeRoy and his wife, Glenda Isaacson, and Larry and his wife, Anna Isaacson, all of Lake Norden, SD; one daughter, Wanda, and her husband, Lowell Laue, of Castlewood, SD; six brothers: Donald and his wife, Beverly Isaacson, of Hamel, MN, Floyd Isaacson and Eugene and his wife, Janae Isaacson, all of Cokato, MN, Duane and his wife, Betty Isaacson, and Kenneth and his wife, Darlene Isaacson, all of Annandale, MN, and DeLloyd and his wife, Carol Isaacson, of Delano, MN; four sisters: Marian Daniels of Kimball, MN, Dorothy and her husband, Maynard Hammond, of Blaine, MN, Joyce Stifter of Oak Grove, MN, and Delores and her husband, Darrel Ilstrup, of Eltopia, WA; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Willard was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
