Funeral services for David P. Guderian, age 79, of South Shore, SD, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, South Shore. Rev. Jason Schmidt will officiate. Music will be provided by Hilda Grewing, as organist, with congregational singing. David passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the hospital in Watertown, SD.
Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, South Shore. Honorary pallbearers will be Rich Schaack, Jerry Jensen, Jim Zirbel, and Glenn Schmeling. Active pallbearers will be: Harold Heuer, Harlan Matthes, Orval Matthes, Ron Schmeling, Ken Jaquet, and Bill Matthes. Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Wednesday, by 10:00 a.m., for a prayer service. David was born on October 10, 1929, at Webster, SD, to Paul D. and Caroline (Krueger) Guderian. He attended rural grade school near Troy, SD, and then moved north of South Shore as a young boy. David started driving truck at 13 years of age. On November 15, 1958, David married Carol Kruger at St. Paul, MN. In 2003, David retired from driving for Hartley Trucking. He was also a partner in Kruthoff Truck Lines. He was a life member of the American Legion and the Kampeska N.E. Det. #1079 of the Marine Corps League. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. David is survived by his wife, Carol, of South Shore, SD; three children: Randall Guderian and his fiancé, Darla Turbak, of Kranzburg, SD; Larry Guderian of Watertown, SD, and Lori and her husband, Darrel Nelson, of Lebanon, TN; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. |
