Funeral services for Fay R. Cooper, age 77, of Bryant, SD, formerly Conde and Lily, SD, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2009, in the Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD. Rev. Fred Rosin will officiate. Music will be provided by Dave and Carol Finstad. Fay passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at a care center in Bryant.
Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, rural Hayti, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be the residents and staff of Parkview Care Center. Visitation will be prior to services on Wednesday at the chapel. Fay was born on January 17, 1932, at Faith, SD, to Arthur and Marie (Holmes) Cooper. She moved to Hannah, SD, as a young girl, and started grade school there. She later moved to Soldier Creek, WY, where she continued grade school and completed grade school in Buckhorn, WY. Fay graduated from high school in New Castle, WY. She returned to South Dakota and worked as a waitress at Phil Towne in Sturgis and ranched with her brother for many years. In 1973, Fay moved to Conde, and later lived in Lily. She has been a resident of Parkview Care Center in Bryant for the last 17 years. She enjoyed gardening and raising house plants. She also enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, knitting, making crafts, and listening to country music. Most important to her, was time spent with her grandson, Dustin. Fay is survived by one daughter, Tammy “Mike”, and her husband, Lucky Nebel, of Spearfish, SD; one grandson, Dustin Nebel, of Spearfish, SD; and one brother, Ed, and his wife, Bonnie Cooper, of Sundance, WY. She was preceded in death by her companion of 30 years, Tenny Bjerke; her parents; one brother, Frank; and her step-father, Seberino Gaido. |
