 A family memorial service for Gwen A. Hanson, age 70, of Watertown, SD, formerly of Galesville, WI, will be held at a later date in Galesville. Burial will be held in the Pine Cliff Cemetery, Galesville. There will be no visitation. Gwen passed away on April 7, 2009, at her residence in Watertown. She was the widow of Daniel Hanson.
Memorials may be directed to any Women’s Resource Center or Chemical Dependency Center of your choice. Gwen was born on April 30, 1938, at Sioux City, IA, to Gerald and Nora (Hermanson) Cass. She graduated from Concordia College in 1960. On August 7, 1960, Gwen married Daniel Hanson at Hancock, MN. She received her Master’s Degree in Education from Winona State University in 1980. Gwen lived in Galesville, WI, where she taught from 1968 to 1998 at Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau High School. She retired in 1998, and lived in Galesville until 2003, when she moved to Watertown to be near her son and grandchildren. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Galesville and belonged to many education associations. Gwen is survived by one son, Paul Hanson, of Watertown, SD; three grandchildren: Cassie Hanson of Grand Forks, ND, and Kari Hanson and Matthew Hanson both of Richville, MN; and one sister, Joan, and her husband, Bruce Dybvig, of Burnsville, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. |
