Terry W. Buckley Funeral services for Terry W. Buckley, age 70, of Watertown, SD, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown. Rev. Tom Christenson will officiate. Music will be provided by Marian Riddle, organist, and Robbyn Givens, soloist. Terry passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at the hospital in Watertown.

Burial, with military graveside honors provided by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown, and the Marine Corps League, Kampeska N.E. Det. #1079, Watertown, will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Tim Swenson, Marco Bertranou, Troy Swenson, Tim Olson, Gregg Jasper, and Dale Rosette.

Visitation will be on Sunday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Sunday by 1:30 p.m. for a prayer service.

Arrangements are being handled by the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Terry was born on June 6, 1938, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Harry and Luverne (Kenney) Buckley. He attended grade schools in the Minneapolis area and graduated from Bloomington High School, Bloomington, MN, in 1957. Terry joined the military and served in the United States Marine Corps for three years. His duties took him to Okinawa, Japan, and California, and he was honorably discharged on June 27, 1960.

Terry married Karen Vollmers on July 7, 1962, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. The couple adopted two daughters, Debbra and Dawn, while living in Minneapolis. In 1979, Terry joined the Plymouth, MN, volunteer fire department and shortly after, moved to Watertown, SD. He worked for Smith Equipment for 21 years and was instrumental in moving the company to Watertown before returning to Minneapolis and working for Dana Spicer. Terry returned to Watertown in 2001.

He was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer and the American Legion. Terry served 15 years as a firefighter for the Plymouth Fire Department and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. He enjoyed camping with family and friends, driving school bus, golfing, and working on and driving his classic car.

Terry is survived by his two daughters: Debbra L. and her husband, Tim Swenson, of Watertown, SD, and Dawn M. and her husband, Marco Bertranou, of Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren, Terra and Taylor Swenson; and three sisters: Elenore Schroeder of Bloomington, MN, Sharon and her husband, Donald Coleman, of Oxford, MI, and Lynn and her husband, Dale Rosette, of Rolla, MO.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
