Minnie J. Isaacson

Minnie J. Isaacson Funeral services for Minnie J. Isaacson, age 92, of Lake Norden, SD, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009, at the Apostolic Lutheran Church in Watertown. Rev. Reino Maunu will officiate. Music will be provided by Janet Maunu as organist and Minnie’s grandchildren and Rev Reino and Janet Maunu as vocalists. Minnie passed away on Friday, May 22, 2009, at a care center in Watertown, SD. She was the widow of E. Willard Isaacson.

Burial will be in the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Norden. Honorary pallbearers will be Minnie’s granddaughters: Josephine Aho, Serena Levijoki, Lisa Isaacson, Diana Isaacson, Laura Isaacson, Mary Isaacson, Hannah Isaacson, and Heidi Isaacson. Active pallbearers will be Minnie’s grandsons: Steve Olson, David Olson, Jonathan Olson, Thomas Olson, Marcus Isaacson, Nels Isaacson, Arne Isaacson, and Reid Isaacson.

Visitation will be in the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service and will continue Friday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.

Minnie was born on December 12, 1916, in Castlewood, SD, to Mathias and Ida (Kangas) Seppanen. She attended Hayti High School; after which she worked in Minneapolis, MN and Berkeley, CA.

On June 25, 1944, Minnie married E. Willard Isaacson in Berkeley, CA. Willard and Minnie moved to the Hayti area and started farming. The couple later moved to the current Isaacson farm near Lake Norden, SD.

She was a lifetime member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, visiting with all of the company that stopped in, and loved visiting different places in the Lake Norden area. Minnie and Willard made two trips to Finland to see her family. She was always available to babysit her grandchildren and help out with the family.

Minnie is survived by two sons: LeRoy and his wife, Glenda Isaacson, and Larry and his wife, Anna Isaacson, all of Lake Norden, SD; one daughter, Wanda, and her husband, Lowell Laue, of Castlewood, SD; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Elwood and his wife, Martha Seppanen, and Stuart and his wife, Cora Seppanen, all of Vienna, SD; five sisters-in-law: Cleo Seppanen of Bryant, SD, Esther Seppanen of Hayti, SD, Bernice Seppanen of Bryant, SD, Bonnie Seppanen of Newark, DE, and Toini Seppanen of Lake Norden, SD; and one brother-in-law, Elwood Gore, of Lenox, MA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; her parents; five brothers; and two sisters.
