Funeral services for Robert E. Romsdahl, age 83, of Hot Springs, SD, formerly of Hayti, SD, will be at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Hayti. Rev. Randy Eisenbeisz will officiate. There will be no visitation. Robert passed away on Monday, June 8, 2009, at the State Veteran’s Home in Hot Springs.
Burial, with military graveside honors provided by Cook-Olsen Post #217 of the American Legion of Hayti, will be in West Norden Cemetery, rural Hayti. Robert was born on July 21, 1925, in rural Lake Norden, SD, to Conrad M. and Hilda J. (Shelsta) Romsdahl. He attended schools in Hamlin County and graduated from Bryant High School in 1943. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948, during WWII, serving some of that time on the Philippine Islands. He was honorably discharged and returned home to farm with his brother until 1962. He then did various jobs with a combine crew, worked in a Black Hills gold mine, and also did miscellaneous mechanical work. Robert entered the SD State Veteran’s Home in 1993 and has resided there since. Robert is survived by one brother, Harlan (Carol) Romsdahl, of Grants Pass, OR; one sister, Betty (Ervin) Krutzfeldt, of Wolsey, SD; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Benjamin, Marvin, and Maurice; and two sisters: Arlene Kleinsasser, and Maurine Jacobson |

| Grew up in Lake Norden South Dakota Hilda and family where very close friends my mother very very good friends of Hilda Leslie and Mary Salonen. |
