A. Marie (Hallauer) Hanson Funeral services for A. Marie (Hallauer) Hanson, age 90, of Watertown, SD, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Henry, SD. Rev. David Larson will officiate. Music will be provided by Dorothy Fuller as organist and Don Seim as soloist. Marie passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2009, at a care center in Watertown. She was the widow of Gerald Hanson.

Burial will be in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Henry, SD. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Marie’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Elaine Fox. Active pallbearers will be: Marilyn Laisy, Lyman Laisy, Michelle Conger, Jim Hanson, Gordon Burke, Norman Laisy, and Ron Thompson.

Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Thursday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Thursday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.

Marie was born on December 10, 1918, in Staples, MN, to John W. and Hazel (Parrott) Hallauer.

On March 20, 1941, Marie married Gerald Hanson in Madison, MN. The couple farmed near Watertown and later moved to various communities in South Dakota while Gerald worked in the construction business. Marie worked as a cook at several cafes throughout the area. In 1968, Gerald and Marie ended up in the Watertown area where he drove truck for a gravel company.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown. Marie enjoyed solving word search puzzles, reading the Public Opinion, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Tiger Woods. Marie really enjoyed watching the State Basketball tournaments on TV, caring for flowers, and visiting with her family, especially with the grandkids. She loved baking for her family, especially during the Christmas holiday.

Marie is survived by her three children: Marilyn (Lyman) Laisy of Madison, SD, Ronald C. (Vinceen) Hanson and Lois Kay Moore all of Watertown, SD; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Wollan, of Sioux Falls, SD; and one sister, Marie Jacobs, of Watertown, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; two granddaughters; her parents, and one brother.
