Marvin Moen Funeral Mass for Marvin Moen, age 73, of Watertown, SD, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009, in Holy Name Catholic Church, Watertown. Fr. John Lantsberger will officiate. Music will be provided by Donna Williams, organist, and Blaine Martian, soloist. Marvin passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at a hospital in Watertown.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Watertown. Pallbearers will be Marvin’s grandchildren: Jeni Ching, Denise Ching, Natalie Ching, Adam Ching, Nicole Lund, Aaron Lund, Kyle McElhany, Katelyn McElhany, Keith McElhany, Brett Shriver, Brock Shriver, and Brooke Shriver.

Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a Scripture Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday prior to the services. The family is requested to meet at the church on Saturday by 9:30 a.m. to attend the services.

Marvin was born on August 3, 1935, in Roslyn, SD, to Gustav and Inga (Hove) Moen. He graduated from Watertown High School in 1953.

On December 28, 1955, he married Joyce Lantgen in Estelline, SD. The couple lived in Watertown and Marvin worked at Watertown Monument Works for twelve years. He then went to work for J. H. Larson as a salesman for thirty-eight years; retiring in 2001.

Marvin was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church where he served as an usher and participated in the Rosary program on KWAT. He was also a member of the Watertown Elks Lodge. He enjoyed his family especially the grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards and was a “grill master” on the backyard grill. He loved cars and restored a 1959 Buick Invicta. Marvin was also a NASCAR fan.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Watertown; four daughters: Vicky (Doug) Ching of Estelline, SD, Cindy (Steve) Lund of Windsor, CO, Patty (Mike) McElhany of Phoenix, AZ, and Julie (Rick) Shriver of Los Angeles, CA; twelve grandchildren; and two sisters: Irma (Lee) Opitz and Geraldine (Virgil) Mahlen all of Watertown, SD.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gene and Noel; and one sister, Doris.
