Funeral services for Robert D. "Bob" Anderson, age 77, of Watertown, SD, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Watertown. Rev. Christina Matson will officiate. Music will be provided by Marian Riddle as pianist with congregational singing. Bob passed away on Friday, August 21, 2009, at a hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Military honors will be provided by the Frank H. Adams Post #750 of V.F.W. following the service. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Bob�s bowling, golfing, and racing friends. Active pallbearers will be: Rob Angland, Jeff Nygaard, Rollie Kludt, Harvey Mueller, Dale Rost, and Randy Walkins. Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service. Bob was born on June 8, 1932, in Dodgeville, WI, to Roy and Ellen (Sellgren) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Hollandale Lutheran Church and graduated from high school in Hollandale, WI, in 1950. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army/Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954. On March 20, 1955, Bob married Blanche Genske in Hollandale, WI. He worked as a salesman for Dairy Equipment Co. in Madison, WI, and transferred to Watertown in 1960, where he continued to work in sales and repair. Bob managed the Plateau Bowling Lanes in Watertown for 13 years and later worked for Rauen Steel, where he sold grain bins, steel buildings, and started developing dairy complexes for the company. Following his retirement, Bob enjoyed spending time in Texas. He was a member of V.F.W. and the American Legion. Bob truly lived life in his own way. He enjoyed participating in and watching many different sports including: golfing, hunting, fishing, racing, playing baseball when he was younger, and bowling. He was inducted into the SD Bowling Hall of Fame. Bob also enjoyed WHS sports and was an avid Green Bay Packer and Minnesota Twins fan. He loved his family and the time he spent with them. Bob is survived by his four children: Tina Sturm, John �Jay� Anderson, and Jim (Christi) Anderson, all of Watertown, SD; and David (Nedean) Anderson, of Sioux Falls, SD; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, John (Marilyn) Anderson, of Wisconsin Dells, WI; and one sister, Elaine Maloney, of Waunakee, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother; one son-in-law, Jerome; and one grandson, Raymond. |
