Ron W. Nielsen

     Funeral services for Ron W. Nielsen, age 42, of Hazel, SD, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Watertown, SD.  Pastor Rae Speiser will officiate.  Music will be provided by Nona Clifford as organist and Lory Erving as soloist.  Ron passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2010, in Clark County, SD.



     Burial will be at the Hazel Cemetery in Hazel.  Honorary pallbearers will be: Bob York, Al Williams, Jerry Kirkeby, Steve Amhrein, Todd Miller, Bill Schmidt, Don Schmall, Ron’s family and friends, and members of the SD POA Club.  Active pallbearers will be: Clay York, Zach Beman, Rock Arnold, Robb Arnold, Mike Burbach, and Estiaan Kleu.



     Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services at the church.  The family is requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.



     Ron was born on May 29, 1967, at Watertown, SD, to Kenneth and Connie (Beman) Nielsen.  He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1985 and then attended diesel mechanic classes at LATI in Watertown.  Ron enlisted in the SD Army National Guard in Watertown and worked at Gehl in Madison, SD.  He worked for various farmers in the Watertown area and later worked as a welder for different manufacturing companies.  Ron was currently working for Racotah Valley Ranch and taking care of the family farm. 



     He was a member of the SD POA Club and when he was younger, he was a member of Hamlin County 4-H.  Ron enjoyed hunting and working with the horses on the family farm.  He loved spending time with his daughter, Siera, and his niece and nephews.



     Ron is survived by his daughter, Siera Gonzalez, of Lake Norden, SD; two brothers: Randy Nielsen of Dent, MN, and Ryan Nielsen of Hazel, SD; one sister, Jody (Ray) Johnson, of Hazel, SD; one niece; and four nephews.



     He was preceded in death by his parents.

I only knew Ron for just over a year, he was such a great guy. My heart and prayers go out to the entire family.

We are very saddened to learn of your family's loss of your brother, uncle and dad.He had lived a full life even though we feel it was too short. We have you in our thoughts and prayers. Peace be unto Ron-we know he is with Connie and Ken and that is a wonderful thought. Gerry and Clark

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family at this time of need. Though we mourn the loss of a special life shall we celebrate the love and friendship Ron gave to everyone. May God be with you all and walk with you in this time of mourning. God Bless you Jody. Siera, Randy , Ryan, Ray and the children that will miss him so. I will continue to pray for strength for your family.
