Agnes J. Framstad

Funeral services for Agnes J. Framstad, age 90, of Watertown, SD, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Vienna, SD.  Rev. David Larson will officiate.  Music will be provided by Dorothy Fuller, organist, and Don Seim, soloist.  Agnes passed away on Monday, May 24, 2010, at a local care center.  She was the widow of Norman Framstad.

Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Vienna.  Pallbearers will be Agnes’ grandchildren:  Donna Murie, David Framstad, Tom (Melissa) Framstad, James Framstad, Andrea (Jason) Davis, Doug (Sarah) Englert, Scott (Nicole) Englert, Lesli (Matt) Yazzie, and Lori Jo Englert, and her great-grandchildren: Dylan Framstad,  Margaret Murie, Mallory and Morgan Framstad, Jessica  Davis, Josie and Sabine Englert, and Jeremy and Angeline Englert.

Visitation will be at Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, SD, on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. and in the church on Tuesday prior to the services.  The family is requested to meet at the church on Tuesday by 10:30 a.m. to attend the services.

Agnes was born on July 23, 1919, on a farm near Vienna, SD, to Alfred and Juli (Brenden) Wall.  She attended the Pleasant Country School and Vienna High School.  She would stay in Vienna during the school week and her dad would pick her up on Friday afternoons.  When there was snow, her father would show up with the horse and sleigh.

On November 10, 1936, Agnes married Norman Framstad in Vienna, SD.  At first they lived with his mother, then at Norman’s sister Mabel’s home where they got two rooms upstairs.  They had a kerosene stove, but without an icebox, they had to hang food in a pail in the cistern.  The couple moved to Claire City, SD, and owned a grocery business.  In July of 1939, they moved back to the home farm.  They lived on the farm for twenty-five years.  They purchased the Willow Lake Drug Store and renamed it ‘Framstad’s Med & Vet’.  Later, Norman remodeled the north side of the building and it became the Willow Lake City Bar.  They had both businesses for twelve years before they retired to Watertown.

Agnes was a member of Pleasant Lutheran Church, where she loved singing in the choir and a quartet.  She was also active in 4-H clubs, community and extension clubs, Ladies Aid, and the Neighbor Ladies Patch Club.

She is survived by two sons:  Donald (JaNean) Framstad of Springdale, AR, and Philip (Marylee) Framstad of DeSmet, SD; one daughter, LouAnn (James) Frost, of Phoenix, AZ; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Evalin Wall, of Pierre, SD.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, in 1986; her parents; one sister; and two brothers.

The many many memories of my grandma Agnes have been visiting me lately, and all of them are of her sweet, loving, gentle ways. She was the fairytale, storybook grandma in real life. I am grateful for her and am blessed to have had her in my life. She will be missed.

I can only repeat what my sister, Janell Case, said earlier. Agnes was the "beauty" in our Family Tree. And she was elected the "Queen" at her care center for 2010. I certainly could expect that.rnrnShe was the baby of the Wall Family. I never ever heard her whisper a harsh word about anyone! I wish I had seen her more. Her kids and all those grandchildren have so many wonderful memories to cherish. rnrnGod Bless the Agnes Framstad Family

Agnes was my Aunt--my Dad's youngest sister and she was a classy, classy lady. She was just a lady through and through. She was so talented and my parents loved her so much. I wish I could have seen her more in recent years. My sympathy to her family.

Agnes was a good friend of mine. She and I worked on committees together at church and we also both loved to quilt. She made so many beautiful quilts for her family so I hope everybody cherishes their blanket from her. She was such an ATTRACTIVE lady. Not a hair out of place. I missed her when she left Grace but she just didn't feel at home there anymore.

To the family of Agnes--Thoughts and prayers to you. Our family got to know Agnes at Jenkins. Agnes played cards with my mother in law and we so enjoyed this time. What a loss and a void for the ladies who played cards most every Tuesday afternoon. Agnes will hold a special place with our family.

Dear LouAnn and entire family of Agnes,

We are so very sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom and Grandma. You are so lucky to have had her with you for so many years. Yet, it is never easy to lost a parent/grandparent - no matter the age. You were all so very dear to her.

How grand it was that you could be there to celebrate her 90th birthday last year.

May she rest in Heavenly Peace with Jesus, Norman and all of the angels and saints!

And may you feel the comfort of knowing our p
