Rosa Lea Johnson Marshall

     Funeral services for Rosa Lea Marshall, age 93, of Watertown, SD, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Evangelical Wesleyan Church in rural Watertown.  Rev. John MacDonald will officiate.  Music will be provided by Bryan Tierney as organist with congregational singing.  Rosa Lea passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at a care center in Watertown.



     Burial will be at the Thomas Cemetery in Thomas, SD.  Pallbearers will be: Scott Ruby, John Ruby, Daniel MacDonald, William MacDonald, Sam Wipf, Sam Wipf, Jr., Kenneth Hessler, Benjamin Hessler, and Daniel Hessler. 



     Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Wednesday. 



      Rosa Lea was born on August 23, 1916, at Glasgow, MO, to James and Cecile (Graves) Wells.  She moved with her parents to Holly, CO, where she attended the first grade and then they moved to Hartman, CO.  Rosa Lea graduated from high school in 1934.  She continued her education at the Bible Training School at Colorado Springs, CO, and graduated in 1942.  She served as a teacher in church schools in several states including: Kentucky, Missouri, West Virginia, and Ohio.  Rosa Lea enjoyed her years of teaching and seeing young people ‘get right with the Lord’.



     On December 30, 1958, Rosa Lea married Elmer Reeves and they lived in Colorado Springs, CO.  They shared only six years together before Elmer passed away in 1964.



     Rosa Lea married Vernon Johnson on December 28, 1967, in Hartman, CO.  They moved to Thomas, SD.  Vernon passed away in 1990 and Rosa moved into Watertown a year later.



     On February 14, 1994, Rosa Lea married George Marshall in Watertown, SD.  The two of them shared many special times together at Camp and District meetings before George suffered his stroke in 1998.  George passed away on February 14, 2002.



     She was a member of the Evangelical Wesleyan Church.



     Rosa Lea is survived by two brothers, Riley Lewis Wells and James Roland Wells; one sister, Helen Wells Goolsby; several stepchildren and stepgrandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and stepgrandsons and step-granddaughters.



     She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; and one brother, Ervin.
