Funeral services for Arlene E. Larson, age 84, of Hayti, SD, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Hayti Lutheran Church in Hayti. Rev. Randy Eisenbeisz will officiate. Music will be provided by Lisa Pedersen. Arlene passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2010, at a care center in Lake Norden, SD. She was the widow of Hans Larson.
Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in rural Hayti. Pallbearers will be Joe Larson, Jordan Ladwig, Darryl Kastein, Merle Pearson, Jeff Larson, and Gerald Larson.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.
Arrangements are being handled by the Crawford Funeral Chapel of Watertown, SD.
Arlene was born on July 16, 1925, in Hamlin County, SD, to Albin and Alma (Bunde) Pearson. She graduated from Hayti High School. Arlene taught in a country school in Hamlin County and later worked in Chicago.
On December 1, 1947, Arlene married Hans Larson at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. The couple started farming in Hamlin County and farmed until they retired in 1986 and moved into Hayti. Hans passed away in March of 1989 and Arlene continued to make Hayti her home until entering Golden LivingCenter in Lake Norden, SD, in 2008.
She was a member of Hayti Lutheran Church. Arlene was an avid bowler and enjoyed reading. She was a wonderful cook and her family and friends enjoyed many delicious meals in her home on the farm. Holidays were always special to Arlene and her family. Arlene’s family is very grateful for the special attention given to Arlene by her sisters, Audrey and Lilace, and her niece, Doreen Lemme.
Arlene is survived by one son, Rodney (Kaye) Larson, of Hayti, SD; three grandchildren: Stacey (Corry) Schaefer of Hayti, SD, and Joe Larson and Jessica (Al) Young all of Watertown, SD; six great-grandchildren: Jordan, Michael, and Taylor Schaefer, Myles Larson, and Landon and Ashley Young; two brothers: Lynn Pearson of Castlewood, SD, and Jerrald (Karen) Pearson of Oakville, WA; and three sisters: Lilace Kastein of Lake Norden, SD, Joyce Amerson of Rapid City, SD, and Audrey (Leo) Stormo of Watertown, SD.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, seven brothers, and two sisters. |
