Lorette was born on May 4, 1932, at Toronto, SD, to Christian Olaus and Helen Ruth (Brugman) Mundahl.  She was baptized on May 29, 1932, at Leganger Lutheran Church in Toronto.  Lorette moved with her family to Watertown in 1946 when she was in the eighth grade.  She was confirmed on June 1, 1947, at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1950.  She met her future husband, Richard, at the local skating rink.

On December 27, 1953, Lorette married Richard Zick at Watertown, SD, and they began their 57 plus years together. Richard had recently returned from serving in the US Army.  Following their marriage, they lived a short time in Watertown where their son, Randy, was born.  Next they headed south with a brief stay in Dallas, TX, before moving to San Antonio, TX, where they were blessed with their daughter, Shelley.  They ventured out to southern California for five years where their two sons, Brian and Lynn, were born.  The rest of their life together was spent living in San Antonio for 44 years while being a member of Christ Lutheran Church.  She retired after several years as an office clerk and became a homemaker.

Lorette enjoyed traveling with Richard to numerous countries including: Europe, Australia, and Mexico, and by 1981, they had visited all 50 states.  Their most recent trip took them to the Eastern Mediterranean to stand where the Apostle Paul preached in Athens and to the Ephesians in Ephesus.

Lorette is survived by her husband, Richard, of San Antonio; one daughter, Shelley (Michael) Schulze, of Burnet, TX; two sons: Brian Zick and Lynn Zick both of San Antonio, TX; four grandchildren: Crystal (Chad) Valentine, and Heather, Melissa, and Matthew Schulze; two brothers: Roland (Theresa) Mundahl of San Antonio, TX, and Darrel (Bea Garcia) Mundahl of Kerrville, TX; two sisters: Dorothy Vanderlinde of Sioux Falls, SD, and Sharyl (Russ) Pederson of San Antonio, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one infant son, Randy Lee; her parents; and one brother, Wayne Mundahl.

Lorette was a kind, loving gracious, generous sister to all in our family. She and Richard made each and every visit to their home a warm and welcoming experience. Her entire life was spent serving her family, living the life of a caring, giving Christian woman. She will be sorely missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. God took her to her son Randy, but her beautiful memories will live with us forever.

To the family of Lorette,
The Lord has comforted His people and will have compassion upon them in their sorrow. Isaiah 49:13

Thinking of you and remembering a visit to Puerto Rico that Richard and Lorette made many years ago. The Lord strengthen your heart and comfort your souls at this time and always.

occasions whether baptisms, confirmations, birthdays, sporting events, graduations, vacations or wedding. The absence of her earthly presence will be a difficult adjustment; however, we know she is still with us in spirit and will be watching over us from above.

Lorette has been my "other mother" for almost 38 years and she will be sorely missed. Many a date with Shelley was spent eating popcorn balls and playing canasta at her home. Gran as she is known in our house has been a special light for us brightening every trip to San Antonio whether for a holiday or simply for catching up with family. Always smiling, joking, cooking (especially lefsa!) and sharing her experience & wisdom. Gran and Grandad have always been there for special
