Delorice Y. Brownlee

     Funeral services for Delorice Yvonne Brownlee, age 84, of Watertown, SD, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown.  Rev. Stephen Lauricella will officiate.  Music will be provided by Marcia Jelsma as organist and LaVonne Olson as soloist.  Delorice passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at a care center in Watertown.



     Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.  Honorary pallbearers will be Delorice’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Active pallbearers will be Mike Brownlee, Roy Brownlee, Lonnie Junkers, Randy Olson, Reggie Olson, and Leonard Blain.



     Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Saturday.  The family is requested to meet at the church on Saturday by 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service.



     Memorials may be directed to the National ATAXIA Foundation at 2600 Fernbrook Lane, Suite 119, Minneapolis, MN 55447, for the research of Friedreich's Ataxia.



     Delorice was born on June 10, 1926, at Pettibone, ND, to Dale and Edith (Dahle) Smith.  She moved to Oldham, SD, at the age of five.



     In 1944, Delorice married Alvin Tallman in Washington.  They later divorced.  In 1952, she married Walter Brownlee in Madison, SD.  They later divorced.  Delorice owned and operated the U & I  Café in Madison and worked at 3M in Brookings, SD, until retiring in 1988, when she moved to Watertown.



     Delorice is survived by four children: Al (Carol) Tallman of Watertown, SD, Gary Tallman of Sacramento, CA, and Walter (Shirley) Brownlee, Jr. and Randy (Rita) Brownlee all of Watertown, SD; two step-children: Toni (Bill) McCann of Auburn, WA, and Rick (Becky) Brownlee of Marshall, MN; 15 grandchildren: Jerry, Jim, Jenny, Shelly, Gary, Steve, Paul, Kevin, Tammy, Jerry, Kathie, Jill, Mike, Roy, and Stacy; and 31 great-grandchildren.



     She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-granddaughter, Mandie Rieffenberger.
