     Funeral services for Henry E. Riggenholt, age 96, of Watertown, SD, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 16, 2010, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Wallace, SD.    Pastor Scott Dempster will officiate.  Music will be provided by Dorothy Anderson as organist with congregational singing.  Henry passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at the hospital in Watertown.



     Burial will be at the Telemarken Cemetery in rural Wallace.  Pallbearers will be Lowell Bach, Robert Arneson, Terry Wasland, Wesley Bjerke, William Linneman, Harris Kasin, Terry Carson, and Kevin Neal. 



     Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Monday.  The family is requested to meet at the church on Monday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.



     Henry was born on January 31, 1914, at Lemmon, SD, to Charles and Mary (Bakke) Riggenholt.  He attended Carson School in Maydell Township, Clark County, SD.



     On December 24, 1939, Henry married Thelma Lund at Florence, SD.  Following their marriage, the couple farmed and raised sheep on the Carson Ranch in Clark County until retiring and moving to Watertown in 1985.



     He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church where he was active as a trustee on the church council.  Henry was also a member of the Carson School Board and the Telemarken Cemetery Board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and visiting.



     Henry is survived by one sister, Pauline Wasland, of Watertown, SD; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, William “Chuck” Linneman.



     He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; his parents; one brother, Albert; and two sisters: Myrtle Schlappy and Ardis Parry-Hoppe.

Henry was our neighbor for several years. He was a great old gentleman. He never complained even tho I am sure he had troubles as did we all. I missed him when he moved. I will keep the family in my prayers.
