Memorial services for Paul D. Engels, age 54, of Watertown, SD, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2010, at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Jim Biswell will officiate. Music will be provided by Peggy Biswell as organist and Gil Kittelson as soloist. Paul passed away on Friday, August 13, 2010, at a Hospice care center in Sioux Falls, SD. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be: Lynn Engels, Larry Engels, John Engels, Jerry Engels, Tim Engels, and Jodi Brinkman. Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and prior to services at the chapel on Friday. The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Friday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service. Paul was born on July 11, 1956, in Watertown, SD, to Henry and Margaret (Reitzel) Engels. Paul graduated from Watertown High School in 1974. On November 22, 1975, Paul married Cindy Kittelson at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD. Paul moved to Worthington, MN, to work for his brother, Everett, in the trucking business and later moved to Brandon, SD, still working for his brother. Paul eventually moved back to Watertown where he worked in the dry wall business for various contractors, most recently for Spiegel Construction. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and throwing darts. He also enjoyed spending time at home with his two dogs and cat. Paul is survived by his fiancé, Donna Marotz, of Watertown; his four children: Maria Engels of Brandon, SD, Jeremy (Tiffany) Engels of Sioux Falls, SD, Lisa (Nathan) Gagliano of Fort Collins, CO, and Jay (Ann) Engels of Brandon, SD; 11 grandchildren; and five brothers: Everett (Margaret) Engels of Baltic, SD, Keith (Janet) Engels of West End, NC, Chuck (Debbie) Engels of Watertown, SD, Marvin (Jan) Engels of N. Las Vegas, NV, and Donny (Jenny) Blais of Watertown, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Dennis and Mike; and one sister, Karen.

My deepest sympathies with the family. I am the youngest daughter of Ken and Berdene Reitzel. Thinking of all of you during this time.

I had the pleasure of meeting Paul through his daughter Maria, but I am friends with all of his kids. My thoughts are with all of you. I am so sorry for your loss. Hang in there.
