Eunice E. Henrichs

     Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice Henrichs, age 91, of Watertown, SD, will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2010, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Watertown.  Rev. Keith Petersen will officiate.  Music will be provided by Ellen Heisner as organist with congregational hymns.  Eunice passed away on October 19, 2010, at a care center in Clear Lake, SD.  She was the widow of Casper J. “Hap” Henrichs.



     Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.  Pallbearers will be:  Paul Parliament, Daniel Parliament, Howard Hegstrom, Jr. Robert Hegstrom, Alen Henrichs, and Bret Henrichs.



     Visitation will be at Crawford Funeral Chapel, Watertown, on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and in the church on Friday prior to the services.  The family is requested to be at the church on Friday by 2:00 p.m. for a prayer service.



     Eunice was born on April 6, 1919, in Lawton, IA, to Arthur and Mary (Lighthall) Hegstrom.  The family moved to Watertown in 1919.  She moved to the Watertown area as an infant. Eunice attended rural grade school near Watertown and graduated from Waverly High School in 1937. 



     On November 15, 1938, Eunice married Casper J. “Hap” Henrichs in Clark, SD.  Their only child, Jon Arthur, was born on September 17, 1939, and passed away at the age of thirteen; on March 25, 1953.  Eunice was actively involved in the farming operation with her husband north of Watertown.  The couple retired from farming there in 1976 and moved into Watertown in 1983.   Hap passed away on December 14, 1986.



     Eunice was a charter member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.  She will be lovingly remembered for her lifelong devotion to her family.



     Eunice is survived by two brothers:  Russ (Cate) of Broomfield, CO, and Dean (Sharon) of Mitchell, SD; one sister, Margaret Hegstrom, of Boise, ID;  one sister-in-law, Alta Hegstrom, of Florence, SD; and many nieces and nephews.



     She was preceded in death by her husband, Casper; her son, Jon Arthur Henrichs; two brothers, Howard and Lyle; and one sister, Frances Parliament.

We love you and will miss you greatly. Some of my fondest childhood memories involved Hap and Eunice and their life on the farm.rnDick

Condolences to all. Eunice was a remarkable person.
I enjoyed knowing her and have fond memories of good times with her and Hap. RIP Eunice, you will be missed by many.
