Annette M. Scriver

     Funeral services for Annette M. Scriver, age 90, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly South Shore, SD, will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown.  Pastor Jim Biswell will officiate.  Music will be provided by Gerry Grooms.  Annette passed away on January 18, 2011, at a care center in Sioux Falls.  She was the widow of Howard “Shorty” Scriver.



     Burial will be held in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery in South Shore.  Pallbearers will be Annette’s grandchildren:  Ryan Scriver, Brett Scriver, Kevin Southwick, Kurt Southwick, Brad Southwick, Brian Southwick, Michael Broich, John Broich, John Scriver, Daniel Scriver, Tracy Jones, Kristi Grooms, and Bryn Scriver.



     Visitation will be prior to services at the chapel on Saturday.  The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Saturday by 2:30 p.m. for a prayer service.



     Annette was born on June 28, 1920, in Grant County, SD, to Nels P. and Martha (Thompsen) Hansen.  She attended rural Klondike School and graduated from South Shore High School in 1939.



     On June 28, 1939, Annette married her childhood sweetheart, Howard “Shorty” Scriver, at Webster, SD.  Following their marriage, the couple ran a small dairy, delivering milk and cream in South Shore and farmed from 1941 to 1947.  They lived in South Shore until Shorty passed away in 1983. Annette moved to Owatonna, MN, in 1984, and lived there until moving to Watertown in 1999.  Annette moved to Sioux Falls in 2005 and resided there to the present.



     She was a member of the Congregational Church in South Shore.  Annette enjoyed bargain hunting, antiquing, and following her grandchildren’s sporting events.  She also enjoyed traveling, taking annual trips with her children.



     Annette is survived by her five children:  Gary (Gabrielle) Scriver of Goodwin, SD, Judy Southwick of Sioux Falls, SD, Margaret Broich of Eden Prairie, MN, Crissie (Shirley) Scriver of Madison, WI, and Ross (Gail) Scriver of Colman, SD; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lee (Jean) Hansen, of South Shore, SD; and one sister, Mary Eunice Miller, of California.



     She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Our deepest sympathy in the loss of your mom. She was a neat lady who we will always remember fondly. We are sorry we were not able to attend the funeral but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

My deepest sympathy go out to your family during this time of grieving. I also know that this is a difficult time for all. Therefore, I'd like to share scripture that may help. Please, read James 4:14, John 6"35-40, 44 and John 11:25, 26.
