William G. Bud Brugman

     Funeral services for William G. “Bud” Brugman, age 87, of Watertown, SD, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Watertown.  Pastor Abel Rios and Pastor Mel Walgren will officiate.  Music will be provided by Darla Rickard as pianist with Deverne and Jan Rickard as vocalists.  Bud passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2011, at a care center in Watertown.



     Burial will be held at a later date.  Pallbearers will be:  Jim Campbell, Steve Brugman, Brad Campbell, Brandon Campbell, David Sossaman, and Brittany Campbell.



     Visitation will be prior to services at the church on Friday.  The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.



     Arrangements are being handled by the Crawford Funeral Chapel of Watertown.



     Bud was born on October 6, 1923, at Matlock, IA, to Arend and Dora (Scholl) Brugman.  He moved to Santa Monica, CA, on December 24, 1944.  Bud worked as a truck crane operator for Douglas Aircraft and as a chauffeur.



     On March 10, 1945, Bud married Joyce Wertz at Santa Monica, CA.  In 1947, they moved to Brookings, SD, and then to Watertown.  Bud was employed at the Ford dealership and then for Old Home Bakery where he worked for 25 years.  Following his retirement, Bud worked odd jobs around Watertown before moving to Colorado and working for Wal-Mart.  They returned to Watertown in 1998 and have resided here since.



     He was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church.  Bud enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, and playing Pinochle and other card games. He also enjoyed playing the accordion.



     Bud is survived by his wife, Joyce, of Watertown; his four children: Doug (Arlene) Brugman of Strandburg, SD, Alan (Linda) Brugman of Leavenworth, KS, Bill (Janis) Brugman of Watertown, SD, and Pete Brugman of Deming, NM; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.



     He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
