Edna was born on January 1, 1916, on the family farm near Estelline, SD, to John and Emma (Timm) Stroschein.

Edna married William “Bill” Scheusner in 1937.  To this union, three sons were born.  The couple moved to Watertown and lived in apartments and rented houses until about 1946. Eventually, they lived in the basement of their new home until the upper part was complete. Their biggest goal was to make sure their sons received a college education. Edna first worked as a housekeeper for families in Watertown and worked several other jobs including: working in the kitchen at St. Ann’s Hospital; cleaning rooms at the Guest House Motel; working at Balsiger Bakery, where Bill was a baker; and she also took in washing and ironing.  Bill passed away in May of 2001 and Edna continued to live in their home until moving to Benet Place Assisted Living in May of 2003.

She was an active member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church and later Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Edna enjoyed working in their large garden and canning in the Fall.  She also enjoyed playing cards, taking walks, shopping rummage sales and watching TV quiz shows.  She made several hundred pot holders and sold them through a consignment store.  While at Benet Place, Edna enjoyed working in word books and playing Bingo.

Edna is survived by their three sons: Roger of Selma, OR, Alan (Virginia) of Bull Shoals, AR, and Ronald (Marsha) of Columbia, TN; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant great-grandchild, Braden William Leming; her parents; one brother; four sisters; and one daughter-in-law, Sally Scheusner.

Memorials may be directed to: Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Prairie Lakes Hospice.
