Alta B. Hegstrom, age 86, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Country View Assisted Living in Florence, SD, after a lengthy illness.  She was the widow of Lyle Hegstrom.

Private Graveside services will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown from 5-7 p.m.

Alta was born on January 28, 1926, in Watertown, SD, to Albert and Anna (Ihrke) Wendt.  She graduated from Watertown High School.  On September 25, 1948, she married Lyle Hegstrom at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.  The couple made their home in Watertown.  They later moved to Guymon, OK.  The couple moved back to Watertown when Lyle retired. 

 Alta was a member of St. Martin’s Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed singing, music, cooking and playing bridge.

 She is survived by her children:  Kent Hegstrom of Watertown, SD, and Marsha Brown of Guymon, OK.

 Alta was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, her parents, and three sisters.
