Barbara Anderson Obituary

Barbara L. Anderson, age 70, of South Shore, SD, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015, at her residence in South Shore, SD.

She was the widow of Orville A. Anderson.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD.

Rev. Philip Long will officiate.

Music will be provided by Sharon Falk as organist with Ron Jensen as vocalist.

The family is requested to meet at the funeral chapel on Wednesday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.







Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and at the chapel on Wednesday prior to services.







Burial will be at the Lakeview Cemetery in South Shore, SD. Pallbearers will be Barb's grandchildren: Derek (Krystal), Aaron (Kati) and Micaela (Justin) Johnson; Jordan, Austin and Hope Buchholz; Jayni, Olivia and Luke Anderson; Isaiah, Elliana and Clara Long; and her nieces: Kalli True and Ashley Heupel.







Barbara was born October 27, 1944, in Watertown, SD, to Carl and Rhoda (Neville) Gunderson.

She graduated from South Shore High School in 1962 and from N.W. College of Commerce, Huron, SD.





On May 10, 1964, Barbara married Orville A. Anderson at the Bergen Lutheran Church in rural Florence, SD.

Following their marriage she worked at the Stockholm State Bank, the South Shore Elevator and also operated an in home daycare.

She and Orville also owned the Gamble's Hardware Store in South Shore and later ran the Stockholm Café for many years.

For the last 24 years, she has worked at the Dakota Sioux Casino.





Barbara was an avid sports fan especially following the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities and spending time with her family.





Barbara was a founding member of the South Shore Booster Club, a member of the Commercial Club and enjoyed baking, sewing, embroidering and reading.





Barbara is survived by her four children: Shelly (Brad) Johnson, Bowdle, SD, Staci (Jeff) Buchholz, South Shore, SD, Kevin (Emily) Anderson, Jackson, MN, and Robin (Philip) Long, Rapid City, SD; her 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Ronald (Fran) Gunderson, Castlewood, SD,

and Roger Gunderson, Seattle, WA; and two sisters: Nancy (Ralph) Hansen, Milbank, SD, and Gayle (Brian) Heupel, Leola, SD.





She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2002, and her parents.
