Barbara Wing Obituary
Barbara J. Dutton (Aaron) Wing, age 54, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015, at the hospital in Watertown after fighting a battle with Melanoma cancer. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Pastor Luke Smith and Pastor Peter Wing will officiate.
There will be no visitation.
Barb was born on January 16, 1961, in Olean, NY. She was the daughter of Karl V. and Eleanor I. (Ratzel) Dutton.
She was a 1979 graduate of Hinsdale Central School, Hinsdale, NY.
Barb received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami, Miami, FL, where she was a member of the University of Miami Band of the Hour.
She furthered her education and received her Masters from Florida International University.
Barb worked for South Eastern Bank in Miami and then moved to Charlotte, NC, working for First Union Bank.
On November 27, 1999, Barb married Aaron P. Wing in Charlotte, NC. In 2001, Barb moved to Aaron's home in Watertown. Barb started working for Lutheran Social Services as a consumer credit counselor. In November of 2008, Barb started working for the USDA as a business and cooperative program tech until her health forced her to retire in 2013.
She is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Watertown.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, sewing and making her own spices.
Barb truly enjoyed helping Aaron and making him her priority.
Family was always most important to her.
Barb's dog, Duster, was a wonderful companion and a huge part of her life.
Barb's family extends a big thank you to all of her nurses, doctors and providers at Prairie Lakes Healthcare and Sanford. Memorials may be directed to: American Diabetes Association, Disabled American Veterans, Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department, the University of Miami Band of the Hour or donor's choice.
Barb is survived by her husband, Aaron, of Watertown; one brother, Karl E. Dutton, and one sister, Susan M. Dutton, of Hinsdale, NY; several nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; cousins and many close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Joseph Dutton; two sisters: Sharon (Dutton) Wing and Karen Dutton; and her sister-in-law, Josephine Dutton.
Committal will take place at a later date at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Olean, NY.
