Charlene Piehl Obituary
Charlene R. (Mrs. Orlynn) Piehl, age 83, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at a care center in Watertown.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington, SD.
Rev. Durk Thompson will officiate.
The family is requested to meet at the church on Friday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will take place prior to services at the church on Friday.
Arrangements are being handled by the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel of Watertown.
Charlene was born on April 21, 1932, at Arlington, SD, to Tilford and Theresa (Anderson) Nelson. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arlington.
Charlene graduated from Arlington High School in 1950.
On April 12, 1953, Charlene married Orlynn Piehl in Arlington.
The couple made their home north of Arlington.
Charlene learned at an early age how to knit and crochet and taught many others the craft.
In later years, she enjoyed quilting.
Charlene especially enjoyed spending time around the Scrabble board with her sisters and watching baseball and basketball.
Grateful for sharing her life are her husband, Orlynn, of Watertown; five children: Michael (Natalie) Piehl of Mitchell, SD, Mark Piehl of Northville, SD, Matthew (Mariane) Piehl of Aberdeen, SD, Tim (Kim) Piehl of Baxter, MN, and Melani Piehl of Watertown, SD; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ramon (Joanne) Nelson, of Vining, MN; three sisters: Ferne (Raymond) Liebsch, Faythe (Frank) Nicolas and Kaye (Gerald) Moe all of Arlington, SD, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
