Active pallbearers will be: Doug Schimmel, Kim Miller, Shawn Bradberry, Glen Geissinger, Dennis Thyen and Ken Zimmerman.
Del was born on June 12, 1943, at Pasadena, CA, to Howard L. and Inez V. (Winters) King. Following high school graduation, Del enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was passionate about serving his country, but very seldom did he talk about it.
Del had lived in Watertown for 20 plus years. During those years, he was employed by Terex Utilities as a receiving clerk. He enjoyed life at Terex with his friends (co-workers) and called the receiving area the ‘happy corner'. On holidays, Del always dressed to coordinate with the present holiday. His personal favorite holiday was St. Patrick's Day as he was very proud of his Irish heritage. Del brought a lot of joy to his fellow co-workers.
He had a taste for the finer things in life. Del was extremely proud of his unique collections including: fancy watches, jewels, pens, swords, coins, etc. He enjoyed a good game of golf and Cloud Nine was the golf course of his choice. Del's favorite summer place was in the back yard of Doug Schimmel's home. He was always welcome there and he loved to just sit and enjoy the beauty of nature. Del was also a very generous person. He gave commemorative Marine coins to his co-workers that were fellow Marines and he donated equipment for a softball team that a co-worker coached. If anyone was down-and-out, he was there to lend a helping hand.
Del touched several lives in his 73 years and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
