Dianne Stecker Obituary
Dianne G. Stecker, age 73, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016, at the hospital in Watertown. She was the widow of Franklin H. "Frank" Stecker. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Dan Schutte will officiate. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services at the chapel on Wednesday.
Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Dianne was born on October 19, 1943, at Watertown, SD, to Madeline (Buittner) Jarman. Following her schooling, Dianne moved to Illinois to work as a nanny before returning to Watertown where she met her husband, Frank.
In 1966, Dianne married Frank Stecker in Watertown, SD.
The couple relocated back to Illinois and Dianne worked in the food service industry as a cook and waitress. Several years later, Frank and Dianne moved to Idaho and owned and operated a tavern. They returned to Watertown in the spring of 1973. Frank was employed as a truck driver and Dianne continued to work in food service until the early 90's.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening and solving crossword puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and pets. She was well known for placing other peoples' needs before her own and rarely accepted help from anyone.
Dianne is survived by her children: Jeffery (Sherry) Stecker and Frank "Butch" (Trish) Stecker all of Watertown and Sylvia (James) Willis of El Reno, OK; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, David (Cathy) Jarman, of Fort Collins, CO; two uncles, Art Buittner of Watertown and Tony Buittner of Arizona; and her two dogs, Boo and Babe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; four step-children; and her mother, Madeline.
