Dolores Atyeo Obituary

Dolores Helen (Mrs. Edward) Atyeo , age 91, of Clear Lake, SD, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society-Deuel Co, Clear Lake. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. Rev. Hans Sacrison and Pastor Laura A. Overbo will officiate. Music will be provided by Judy Oleson as organist with special music by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family is requested to meet at the church on Saturday by 9:30 a.m. for a family prayer service.





Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Clear Lake and prior to services on Saturday. Arrangements are being handled by Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD.





Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Clear Lake. Active pallbearers will be Tim Atyeo, Scott Atyeo, Ty Hentschel, Nathan Atyeo, Nick Gortmaker, Aaron Dunker, Tony Weber and Patrick Calautti.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dolores's grandchildren and great-grandchildren.





Dolores was born on November 8, 1924, in Watertown, SD, to Gerhard and Martha (Boerner) Schmidt. She was united in marriage to Edward W. Atyeo on August 15, 1945. Together they began farming. Dolores was proud of her gardens and being a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.





Dolores retired from farming and began working as a cook for the Deuel County Good Samaritan Center. She furthered her education to become the Food Services Supervisor and was a dedicated employee for 25 plus years. Dolores was talented and gave of her time freely. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and served in many positions in WELCA. She was a member of the Hospital and Home Auxiliary, Deuel County Farmers Union and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included canning, baking, quilting, sewing and embroidery. Many have been blessed to receive her beautifully hand-made gifts, each stitched with love.





Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 70 years, Edward, of Clear Lake; her children: Bill (Joy) Atyeo of Sturgis, SD, Bob (Donna) Atyeo and Chuck (Pam) Atyeo both of Clear Lake, Diann Dunker of Casa Grande, AZ, Dave (LuAnn) Atyeo of

Watertown, Anita (John) Gaspar of Sioux Falls, SD, and Patti (Joe) Calautti of Katonah, NY; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys (Loren) Christianson, of Hendricks, MN; one sister-in-law, Esther (Ron) Krause, of Clear Lake; and many other family and friends.





She was preceded in death by her parents; three infant children; four brothers and two sisters.
